WE BELIEVE
GREAT MAKGEOLLI BRINGS
GREAT PEOPLE TOGETHER
At GGULGGEOK HOUSE, we brew makgeolli and create cultural experiences that make every sip worth sharing.

By reimagining traditional Korean makgeolli through a contemporary lens,
we build on the timeless foundation of rice while exploring ideas across genres.

The result is makgeolli crafted for today.
Wherever there was great makgeolli,
there were always great people.
And those people went on to create new stories,
ideas, and culture.

Naturally, one question stayed with us
"What should our own makgeolli be?"
We found our answer in rice.
We wanted to create a makgeolli that was truly our own, rooted in rice.To us, the tradition of gayangju—home-brewed Korean alcohol—represents the purest expression of Korean craft. We founded GGULGGEOK HOUSE to carry that spirit forward in a contemporary way.
Located in Gwangalli, Busan, GGULGGEOK HOUSE is both a traditional makgeolli brewery and a brewpub—a place where handcrafted makgeolli, people, and culture come together.
HOW WE BREW
Our makgeolli begins with quality ingredients
and thoughtful fermentation.
Contract-Grown Rice
We use contract-grown rice from young farmers in Gimhae. By overseeing quality from harvest to fermentation and milling the rice to approximately
45%, we create a cleaner, more balanced flavor.
House Yeast
We are developing our own house yeast
by studying wild yeast native to Busan,
creating a fermentation profile unique to
GGULGGEOK HOUSE.

(Currently in development. Patent application
planned for September.)
Mixed Fermentation
Rooted in traditional makgeolli fermentation,
we also explore the techniques of beer and wine
to shape a new culture of fermentation.
Our Team
We brew makgeolli, run a brewpub, create content, and collaborate with local producers—
using our makgeolli to bring people and culture together.Though our roles are different,
we are united by one purpose: creating great makgeolli and memorable experiences.
